When they were still kids, Menma and the others play together at the forest and built their first base there. They named their group 'The Peace Busters". Until one day, when they are having a talk, Anaru asked Jintan if he liked Menma. Jintan said "who would like that ugly girl?" but Menma only smiled at him. He blushed and to hide his embarassment, he rushed off to the woods. Menma ran after him and a tragic accident happened. She slipped and fell into the river. Menma died. After that, they all grew farther away from each other because of the accident. Years later, Menma showed herself as a ghost to Jintan. She said that he must grant her wish to go to heaven. After that, he tried to gather all the members of "The Peace Busters" again to try and figure out what is Menma's wish. They all tried to guess what is that wish. They are all having quarrels about Menma's ghost being true or not. But when they saw her handwriting on the diary telling that they all should stop quarreling, they all believed it. It seems that Menma's wish was also the wish of Jintan's mother, to make Jintan cry because she believed that he does not cry because he's trying not to cry for her mother's sake being at the hospital with a disease. Well, I could say that this is the most touching anime that I have watched. You will see all the hidden feelings of the characters about their friends. It will also tackle about how being friends are. If you like an anime that would make you cry, well, this is it! I definitely recommend it.
